Beyond Belief Session 7

The topic of “outside conscious awareness” seemed to arise in this session. Banajai said “mind bugs” when people exhibit the bias and beliefs that they have. I suppose it’s like when a person is being debated about something he or she believes in like religion and they back it up of course because they feel obligated too because they believe in it. I can understand why many people do no believe in the idea of religion, mainly because it is not scientific and more of word of mouth and it’s like what if everyone is believing in this “greater power blindly.”

The speakers give the idea that you don’t need God or a religion to maintain ethics in one’s life, that ethics can be basically be controlled by us individually by will power. I don’t agree with this, now I’m not saying that all people without religions are evil, but I believe that people who believe in at least SOMETHING like agnostics have some sort of direction in their lives. We live the best lives we can so that we can be accepted by God/ higher power after death. That’s why we are called “God Fearing people.” When we are born and raised we are told that God has a plan for each and every one of us, alongside to that he has some rules for us to follow in order to put obstacles in our way for the challenge to see how strong we really are. Now if you don’t believe in anything ,and are not fearing of anything then what is the point of having ethics, morality, and just being plain courteous? If there is no one to tell you what’s right from wrong then would you really be living to the best of your abilities? I don’t think so.
