Beyond Belief

It opened up with Susan Neiman discussing the philosophical side of religion, and basically not to underestimate it because we still need religion for ethics. Without and Ethics or morals what is the point of living? Do we just go about our daily business in lives aimlessly without any purpose, or should be fearing of a God, because we know there is a higher power watching us and keeping track of all the good and bad things we do in order to judged us as people and come the hour of our death we are officially judged and that judgment will be a determination of whether we go to Heaven, Hell or Purgatory.

In a way I understand why people believe that Religion is there in order to be therapeutic and that it gives us a sense of safety and comfort in our lives. Because it teaches us the moralities of life but I still personally eel that there is more to religion than just this. People who think that religion is just something that was invented to keep people in track and “good” are misinformed and are not seeing the whole picture. Okay I’m not going to go all into detail about my religious back ground but once again I will say I am defending religion again because I myself am a catholic, but regardless if I am catholic or not I still believe that there is a higher power out there.
